Antique Wedgwood Cobalt Jasperware Biscuit Barrel With James Dixon & Sons Silverplate Lid, Circa 1880s

$200.00 USD

A stunning example of 19th-century British design, this antique Wedgwood biscuit barrel features rich cobalt blue jasperware adorned with classical white bas-relief figures in the neoclassical style. The piece is topped with its original silver-plated lid and handle, both crafted by renowned Sheffield silversmiths James Dixon & Sons.

The lid bears the EPNS mark along with the “J D & S” maker’s stamp, confirming its quality silverplate construction. The impressed “WEDGWOOD” mark on the base (without “England”) dates the piece to circa 1870–1890. The silverplate and jasperware remain in beautiful vintage condition with age-related wear and some fine cracking in the applied relief, common in early examples of this type. No strucural issues.

Dimensions: 5.75"D x 7"H

Condition: There is surface discoloration a long the top part of the blue. There are scuff marks near one of the figures. Fine cracking in the applied "sprig" decoration. Please review all photos.
