Antique Oscar Schlegelmilch Lidded Porcelain Jar – Hand Painted, Gold Gilt, Tripod Feet – Marked "639"
A rare and exquisite early 20th-century lidded porcelain jar by renowned German maker Oscar Schlegelmilch. This beautifully hand-painted piece features a classic Art Nouveau design with gold gilt floral motifs, red and gold alternating shield panels, a lid that screws into place and a footed base—a unique and desirable feature in collectible porcelain.
The jar is marked on the underside with the blue Oscar Schlegelmilch crown mark, along with "Handgemalt" (German for hand-painted) and "Ges. Gesch." (legally protected design), dating it to approximately 1905–1925. The impressed mold number "639" is also present.
Dimensions: 3"W x 5"H
Condition: Gold gilt on fluted edges shows wear. I have observed no chips in porcelain. Some discoloration around rim of lid and rim of threaded lip. There is one glaze pinhole - naturally occurring in manufacturing - which is seen on lid in one of the photos. Very good antique condition.
